Mallacoota

Thank the Lord for ozzy public libraries. They provide an hour of free WiFi and 500MB download, so where was I...

Oh yes, the remaining night shots of Melbs before dirty David and Donglegate, as I have unaffectionately labeled the event in my very scarred mind lol.

Above is sweetheart Matt, he especially sent me a picture of himself with a perfect coiffure so I felt duty bound to include:)

I arrived back at Matt's place at 10.30 Friday evening and spent my first night in the snail house (his 3 youngest kids were over so no room at the inn). It was bloody freezing and I hardly slept a wink!  In the morning I had a hearty breakfast of eggs and bacon (cooked for me hurrah), practised packing and unpacking my new home and then said my farewells. As a final fantastic hosty gesture, Matt gave me his spare doona, covered in the blood of his last murdered guesty. Quite frankly I was lucky to escape with my life ha ha - only joking Matty, I believe you when you say it's red wine.

I arrived at my first destination, Wilson's Prom around 5pm on Saturday. You may remember I spent a day there with Kerrilee and it was so beautiful I returned in my snail house. This cheeky fellow was there to greet me...

And this is the view from my tentage.
I had it all planned, I was gonna spend a day on Squeaky Beach, do a coastal walk and climb Mt Oberon, what a totally chilled out itinery for the next few days. Alas Sunday morning when I opened up tent flappage, it was bucketing it down and Mt Oberon was immersed in cloud. Only thing for it was to pack up and go.

I arrived at Lakes Entrance, gateway to the stunning Gippsland network of inland lakes in the afternoon and headed straight for the touristo information centre. They informed me it was forecast rain until Friday so I just got back in the snail house and carried on.

I arrived in Mallacoota at about 6.30pm and decided to set up camp (still raining). Dirty David brought me over a coffee (how fatherly of him I thought, little did I know) and spent a hairy night being buffeted and blown.

Sunday morning was Donglegate (no need to revisit) and after spending the rest of the morning trying to find WiFi and update bloggingtons I spent the afternoon walking along the coast in the rain. Here are the pictures.
I think I am becoming obsessed with gum trees.

I was just thinking the fierce, rugged ocean would look better in the bright sunshine when suddenly a little gift from above to cheer my weary soul...

This is the view from the snail house Sunday evening...

And this little guy was greedily eying up my dinner, banana and chocolate spread sandwiches, yum.

On Monday morning I spent a couple of happy hours climbing to the top of Genoa Peak, the mountain views were stunning. I just want to climb them all but alas they are out of bounds:(
And then I headed for my next destination, Merimbula via Eden. I wrote this bloggage in Eden library and now have to hit the road, lots of love and over and out xxx
