The Beginning

Well, after several eventful years the big adventure has finally started. After surviving the two big infers (infertility and infidelity), a marriage break up, a potential sacking and a witch hunt, at the ripe old age of forty two I am footloose, fancy free and friggin' boiling.

My brother in law Dave compared living in SE Asia to living inside a fanny, hot, wet and a little bit stinky. I laughed so hard I think a little bit of pee may have leaked out but now I'm here I can kinda see what he means. I have arrived smelling of mouldy meat pie and in desperate need of a shower.

Yesterday at Manchester airport there was a distinct possibility it could have all gone tits up at the first hurdle as I have no Thai visa or proof I will be leaving Bangkok within 30 days (nice lady in STA travel didn't tell me that...) Get out of gaol free card was the ability to prove sufficient funds; many thanks once again to she who can't be named.

The flight was uneventful but I couldn't help feeling a bit spooked by the clone like nature of those picture perfect trolley dollies. Corporate dress I understand, but corporate cosmetics and grooming??? They all had exactly the same shade lip, exactly the same angled liner and exactly the same fancy up-do (and that was just the pilots lol). Seriously, very twilight zone.

I'm now lying on my top bunk in a six berth dorm. I am at least double the age of anybody here and after several attempts at striking up chattingtons I have given up and  resorted to bloggingtons instead. I have been bollocked twice by an uptight, eighteen year old Ozzie bird, once for my tablet making a barely audible bleep sound whilst typing and again for being over exuberant with the mozzie spray. Still, an old gal like me can take it, I used to teach in a comp!

Tomorrow I'm going to take it easy, find my feet and meet Dave's mate Mike to get the low down on the dos and don'ts of surviving in Bangkok. Also want to plan my trip to Cambodia which could be the next installment,

Time for lights out, scary Ozzie bird has spoken, this is Adi lady saying goodnight and over and out.
