The hotel was fabuloso. It was sooo nice to stay in a room with pristine sheets, fluffy pillows, hot water power shower and air con that doesn't sound like it's running on second grade bio-diesel. But the best thing of all....no meddlesome mosquitoes. I have got bites on bites in places you can only imagine...left flappage, how the fook did the bugger get there! Added extras, big fat breakfast, free water and fruit and get this; every night at six there was a tap, tap, tap on the door and I was presented with a plate of homemade cookies, what's that all about?
Saturday was lie in day. Had a leisurely brekkie then went to have my legs waxed. Mooched around the market, bought some elephant print troos (all the youngies are sporting them) and a 2 dollar watch ( 5 quid lovely from Argos lasted precisely 5 minutes before it packed in). Then it was back to the hotel for a massage and my umpteenth hot shower. Laura on the other hand went to The Killing Fields on her lonesome. When I met her for dinner she was totally traumatised, poor thing.
Laura and me.
Sunday Laura and I went to the National Museum. There are only so many stone statues Adilady can look at in one day so still finding the whole museum thing tres Dullsville. There were a pair of pretty cool giant wrestling monkeys but alas photos were forbidden. Below is a picture of the gardens.
Laura left to go to the beach on Monday morning so Adilady is back on her lonesome once more. She was a really nice girl and I'm glad I met her.
Monday morning was Khmer cookery class for me. Yes, Adilady cooking and using more than one pot! First stop was the local food market, here are some pics...
This is my teacher Sue.
Vegetable stall, I liked the colours.
Dragon fruit, they are such an amazing colour. Eating them is like sugar flavoured snot.
Old fishwife.
Grain and dried goods stall.
Dried ear mushrooms.
Then it was off to a roof top terrace to get cooking.
Kitchen empty...
Kitchen full.
Check out my spring rolls.
Adilady pounding, it was bloody hard work.
Adilady's fish amok pre cookage. My banana leaf is leaking off to the right, oh well...
Fish amoks being steamed.
The finished product, it was delish.
Off to see the Grande Palace this morning then a flight to Bangkok to meet Kate, yippee! It was her birthday yesterday, 27 years young. We will spend the next few weeks with people speculating on our relationship; am I her mum (too young), sister(too old) or old, rich lesbian lover lol.
May not blog as much now I have company, Adilady over and outxxx
PS thanks for reading, I noticed yesterday I have no followers, not sure how you can sign up but if its straightforward please do so. My lucrative film deal depends on it ;)
