Animal, Vegetable and Mineral

Yesterday was very chilloed indeed. I had a lazy morning trying to find a couch surf in Brizzy and then got the train/ferry to Toranga Zoo. I met Lizzy and Ione on the ferry and spent the day with them; it was nice to have some company. Ione left London for Oz with her family in 1965 and Lizzie is her great niece, currently on her gap year with a place at university to study French.
Above is the ferry ride and then you will be subjected to my Doctor Doolittle animal bloggage as I can now officially talk to the animals. I only went to the zoo because I wanted to see a real life duckbilled platypus, a name so comical I don't even have to tamper with it; mission accomplished:)
The orangutans, this bad boy was called Badboy...
'What you lookin' at?'
'Eat my ginger shorts.'
This is Zebadea, she was very coy, 'I hate having my picture taken, I haven't combed my mane.'
And Clive the pygmy hippo, 'it is way too hot to even think about entertaining, come back tomorrow.'

This is a tree kangaroo, I didn't catch his name as he was sooo tired his eye lids were a droopin' and his head a jerkin'. Just after I had passed I heard a wee thumpington as he fell out of the tree lol - I so want that to be true:D
'I'm so cute I could just eat myself all up, don't you wish you were as cute as me?'

And this blur is the platypus, she was called Doris and was frantically swimming in circles around her tank so this was the best shot I could get. I think she had dropped her keys or something but she didn't stop to chat.
This little devil is Tasmanian, 'I'm endangered don't you know, now fook right off I'm trying to get some kippage.'
A wild cockatoo, he was just here to show off because he isn't caged.

This naughty hephalump kept throwing his toys around, 'bored, bored, bored!'

This is Gentle Bill, Ben is just out of camera shot. 'Hey Ben, you will never guess what I've found down here...
Seriously, come and look.'
May I introduce Toffee Nosed Terrence. 'I'm expecting wild venison for lunch, none of this battery farmed shit.'
Zzzzzz
'Seriously, all he ever does is eat sleep and fart'
'I am not a cheeky monkey, I'm a frigging chimpanzee.'
A wild kookaburra, again bragging about his freedom to the caged ones.
'There's millions' says Jeffrey 'all under one roof.'
This is Kamodo, she is a dragon and a liability during these bushfire times. 'I mustn't sneeze, I mustn't sneeze...'
Just a lot of hungry lip smacking going on, how disconcerting.

Ferry ride back,
Then onto phase two,
The botanical gardens, I didn't get much time to check out anything vegetable but as usual I did enjoy the sculptures.

Meet 'The Satyr' or Mr Tumnus as he is affectionately known, well to me anyway.
I think I used to date this guy, he is hung like a goat ha ha.
This one is entitled 'mother earth.'

A lovely old tree.
A folly for Mrs MacQuarie
This is a slit drum donated by someone in Polynesia.

I photoed the description of the giant sculpture 'this side of the water', which is below; pictures follow.

Final phase was a wander around 'The Rocks', the oldest part of Sydney. There is a museum looking at the history of the area but I opted not to go. Here are some pictures but a ghost has got into my camera and made things all a bit blurred, maybe I am being haunted for not going to the Dullsville museum ha ha.

These purple blossoms are called jacaranda trees, they are sooo pretty.

Next installment is bridge climb (yikes!) and shark dive (double yikes!!) I'm still feeling happy:D

Final thing from me, I've just had a reply from a couch surfing host in Brisbane, if I stay it will be a naked room share with him and a young German girl. Think I need to find somewhere else lol xxx
