So I arrived at Phong Nha Farmstay at 8.30 yesterday after minimal kippage on the overnight train. Unfortunately I was late so had missed the 'hidden valley' trek I had wanted to go on, oh well, shit happens...
I was gonna have a chilled day but Ozzy Mike on reception said a group of touristos had hired a van to look around a couple of caves and did I want to join them, hell yes.
The majority of bloggingtons will be cave pictures, feel free to skip forward if you get all caved out but I thought they were breath taking. First stop Paradise Cave...
We then went on a nature trail walk along the river, which was very pretty. There was an option to swim but being aquaphobic I decided the time would be better spent catching rays and sneaking a snooze.
Then it was off to the Phong Nha cave which is only accessible by boat.
Lady collecting sea spinach, it's called 'morning glory' here which makes all the Brits smirk. For the sake of Bobbio and Mike who will have no idea why, morning glory is a euphemism for an early morning erection...
Inside the cave...
As we were entering the cave a boat was coming the other way transporting a female Vietnamese choir. They were singing in beautiful harmonies and made the experience sooo magical. It almost sounded Elvin and I felt like Arwen from Rivendell.
Tomorrow I'm going for a 7km trek deep into the heart of the Paradise Cave, which makes me very happy indeed. I've spent many a day tramping up mountains but now I'm going deep within their heart. I feel like Gimli son of Gloin lol. Lots of Lord of the Rings references today. What made me happy? The cheese and ham toastie I had for dinner (first cheese since leaving Manch) and singing along with Simon and Garfunkel tuneage with guitar playing guy in the farmstay bar. Adilady over and out xxx
Just read another Adi blog. Love the caves am very envious and bored at work. Rx
