Shaved pits, check. Plucked brows, check. Lipstick, check. Hair styled, check. Mouldy meat pie BO contained, check. I'm good to go and meet Hardy in my slinky frockage.
So when I get to the reception Hardy says 'wow!' And apologises for being under dressed. His eyes are a bit out on stalks, I guess I scrub up well.
I'm so,'hey that's cool, I don't get the opportunity to go to a decent restaurant with company very often and any excuse to sport a frock.' Secretly I like the compliment, who wouldn't?
We ate at 'Morning Glory', Hoi An's most exclusive restaurant. The bill came in at a whopping 700,000 Dong (about 40 dollars), which is practically Michelin star prices for these parts. Hardy paid, hurrah for me and slinky frockage!
So what else can I tell you about Hardy? He loves to cook, has only been drunk twice, tracks his every movement on his phone so he can work out exactly how far he has been and spent 200 USD on a meal for one when visiting Hong Kong. His wife refused to go to Relate, he wanted to work things out and couldn't accept the failure (fixed mindset?) He is working really hard on living life for the moment and not sweating the small stuff; something which comes pretty naturally to me thank the Lord.
Anyway, here are some photos of Hoi An at night, all lit up like a christmas tree.
My new/old camera is a bit shit, there is a white stripe on many of the photos. I think I may have to buy a decent one when I'm in Singapore.
Yesterday was a beach day before I got the train to Saigon. Hardy came along and all was very pleasant. Still I have never been so much on my best behaviour, no swearing, innuendo, excess beerage, I think he likes this pretend me but it ain't the real dealio.
The journey to Saigon was a nightmare. The train was delayed by 4 hours so left at 2am and arrived here at 8pm, still plenty of dozage in my bunk although the sheets were mingsville and made me feel itchy and scratchy the whole time.
My hotel is fabso. 10 pounds agoda deal, clean as a whistle, great shower. I have just received an e mail from Hardy, he is coming to Saigon 2 days early and hopes we can meet up. Tomorrow I'm going to the Chu Chi tunnels, the following day I will walk the city streets doing touristo stuff then off to see Pipney Doddingtons in Singapore HURRAH! For anybody who doesn't know, Philippa Dodd (now Bounds) is my dear, dear friend from university days. I will report on my Saigon adventures as and when I have them. Much love to you all, Adilady over and out xxx
