Christchurch

Quickest bloggingtons ever today. I have just spent a happy 3 hours tramping the streets of CC checking out their street art. As you may be aware CC suffered a big earthquake in 2011 which claimed the lives of 185 souls and caused a lot of structural damage. There is a massive rebuild underway and the city is taking the opportunity to include 'Transitional City Projects' which mainly means a lot of quirky art installations. See what you think...

Pallet Pavillion; a stage made out of pallets, crates and boxes no less.

This work is entitled 'Roller Restart', unfortunately I couldn't find any volunteers to be Santa and his elves:(

The Orange Tree.

Oversized Armchairs.

A Treehouse for Swampy...

Sound Garden.

The government building avec Muriel.

This is New Regent Street, it claims to be the 'prettiest street in NZ' and from what I have seen I am inclined to agree.

An old tram stopping at Cathedral Junction.

The Cathedral, it was badly damaged in the quake.

Artwork in Cathedral Square.

These flags are everywhere, I rather like them.

The Cardboard Cathedral.

185 Empty Chairs.

I will leave you with this thought...
Gotta go, I'm sitting next to a really stinky woman in the libes. I think the kiwis rival their antipodean neighbours when it comes to street art, would you agree? Xxx
