Machatarn

I am staying with Kirstypop's dear, dear friend Maureen at the moment. She lives in a sleepy place called Goonegerry just outside Byron Bay. Maureen is called Machatarn by her friends here and the name suits her a lot better. Her family have made me sooo welcome, when I arrived I met Stan (her partner), Breanon (her 16 year old daughter), Jagan (her 9 year old son) and Stan's daughter Veresha and her boyfriend Jessie. We had a big family meal around the dining table and the house was full of love, music and vibrant conversation.
Apart from homophobia that's another thing about Dale and Kate's beliefs that I can not and will not accept. How can such beautiful people such as Machatarn and her wonderful family be damned to spend eternity wailing and gnashing their teeth just because they haven't been baptised in the blood of Jesus?

Veresha and Jessie are pregnant and showed us the pictures of their first scan, all very exciting, S and M are going to be grandparents. It was funny as I nearly asked Veresha about her due date when I first arrived although she is not showing at all. It was like I sensed it, it is very unusual for me to sense anything;)

On Saturday I went with Machatarn to the 'party in the park' held in the neighbouring town of Federal. The local community have bought the church here and M is on the committee, they had a stall to promote community involvement.

This is M on the right waiting to judge the busking competition, she has really cool hair.
This is the stall where I spent most of the day in the shade chatting to an old stoned guy called Ross as well as various other people; everybody was most welcoming (and wanted to talk about the snail house lol).
A panoramic view of the party field.
And there was a sculpture competition, again I will save my favourites until last.
This is entitled 'scart.' It looked like a shit on a stick to me. Then I discovered that 'scart' is Ozzy slang for poo, why would you??? lol.

This one is called 'all aboard the mystical snail ride' which made me think of my very own snail house adventure:D

Third place, the rock wallabies, I thought they were cute.

Second place the glass cross; I guess it made me smile after the time I had spent with Dale and Kate.

This is the winner although I didn't realise how cool it was until my second walk around. It's made from bits of old engine etc. A scuba diver with fish, seahorse, bubbles and tank: all very clever.

This is Machatarn's friend Gabby, she is a really talented jazz singer.
And this group is called 'the 3 little sisters' but I liked the picture because of the frolicking children.
Varesha and Jessie left on Sunday morning, this is them...
And them with Breanon, I will get more family photos before I leave:)
Sunday, Machatarn took me to Byron Market. We sat lusting after this gorgeous blues singer, I sooo need to get laid (sorry Bobs, I know that will offend but I need to cater for all my readers lol).

Pictures of hippy stalls.
I was considering dreadlocks, when in Rome...
In the evening we went to see a great dub reggae band called 'Kingfisha', I didn't even know I liked dub reggae but they were great, the lead singer sounded a bit Stingish. This young boy was the supporting act, his name is Milan Martin, I think I'm old enough to be his granny.
Kingfisha
When we got back this python was waiting to greet us, I will call him Monty and I got to stroke him.
Monday morning this podaroo was here to say HI!
There is a real menagerie here, check out this crazy chicken, Snowflake ha ha ha.
I have decided to extend my stay here with Machatarn as I have been made to feel sooo welcome and I'm having sooo much fun. Today we are going to a Melbourne Cup party at Nicky's house, M's dear friend. We have to dress up and wear hats so I will be dusting the slinky frockage down and improvising by putting flowers in my hair.

Machatarn is hopping aboard the snail Thursday for a girlie road trip up to Brizzy, how exciting. She needs a new car so we are gonna check one out on Friday. She will also be in Auckland on 10th Dec, the day Kirstypops arrives. The girls night out has already been planned, watch out world!!!

I am meeting some truly gorgeous people here in Oz, next stop is Brisbane where I will be staying with JoJo's sister ( for those of you who don't know, JoJo is my big sister Ruth's best friend). What is there not to be happy about in Adiland right now? All my love and over and out xxxxx
